Открытый урок английского языка в 5 классе

Тема: «Окно в мир. Канада» (Window to the world. Canada)

Цель урока: Формировать ценностные отношения детей к культуре Канады

Задачи урока:

- воспитывать толерантное отношение к иным обычаям и традициям;

- научить детей элементам анализа и выстраивания ассоциативных связей;

- совершенствовать навыки владения компьютерными и интерактивными технологиями;

- совершенствовать аудитивные навыки учащихся.



Время - 45 минут.

Ход урока

I. Начало

1.Приветствие:

Oh!!! Hello, boys and girls! Glad to see you today! Let’s begin our lesson. You see, today I look different (учитель вошёл в класс с портфелем, зонтом и в плаще) I like to travel so much, but never know where to go, there are so many opportunities. Oh, look at the board – it’s my favourite TV programme, it is Chris and this is his show! What do you think it is about?

2. Сообщение темы и задач урока:

Today we will not only study, but also we’ll take part in the show. We are going to learn many interesting facts, we’ll practice reading, making up dialogues and speaking. Let’s not loose the time and begin right now!

3. Речевая зарядка.

I’ve been so inattentive! Name me the countries, I need to know their names! You all know much about our planet, about different places on it. Let’s make up the map of the world; we’ll see where the English-speaking countries are situated. Come up to the board and put the names of the countries, their capitals and the symbols to the right places. The example will help you.

Пример на доске: I think GB is here and the capital of GB is London.
Have a look at the smart board, every time his show begins with one and the same words – Let’s listen to the poem which you see on the board.

So many countries al over the world,

So many people and life-tales told!

Different cities, languages, poems,

Amazing traditions, legends, stories.

We travel east, we travel west,

If South is warm, North is cold,

To know so much is the best,

We start our trip and off we go!
So, you see what we’ll speak about today. Let’s underline in this poem the words which we associate with traveling (east, cities, legends…) What will we speak about today? Where do you think we’ll go?

Look at your tables and all the things around you. You are right, we’ll go to Canada! And it is Canada that Chris wants to tell us about today! He himself flew to this country to meet his colleague Daphne, we’ll see her later. If we work today well, Chris will probably ask us to visit his show. Let’s do our best!
II. Центральная часть

Работа с вопросами по страноведению Канады.

Oh, the telephone rings! Yes – it is Chris, he says, he is on his way to Canada. And wants to know how much you know about this country. He sent a short quiz about Canada to your e-mails. Let’s work a bit with computers. You have 2 minutes, only one answer is correct. Open the pages and work.

Two minutes have passed and now we can check your answers/ Read and look at the board to see if you were right.

1) Now we can have a closer look at Canada together with Chris. Answer the questions which he asks those who take part in his show:

What country does Canada border on?

Who were the native people of America and what do you think about Canadian natives?

Right, the native people of Canada are also Indians. But the names of Canadian tribes are very difficult, to speak well in their country we need to train them!

2) When Chris was flying to Canada he took a newspaper, opened it and saw the page Culture Corner. We have a chance to get acquainted with this article too! But first we’ll listen to Chris reading it. Divide in two groups. The task for you is to listen and match the parts of the sentences from the text, take the cards.

3) Listen to the text.

4) Let’s check the cards.

5) Let’s read the article together (Friends 2, p. 50, ex. 1)

6) You see, the English languageof the article is absolutely correct, let’s see how the articles are used in the language.

6) Was the article interesting? Why? What facts were new? Now tick the topics which you met in this text (задание на интерактивной доске). Do these words have anything in common with those which we marked in the poem? Yes, they match.

So, our traveller Chris got off the plane and the first thing he saw was that strange object (на экране изображение тотема). What do you think it is? Now I want you to describe this statue (tree, toy). What adjectives can be used when we speak about this strange thing?

terrific

Come to the board and stick the adjectives on this object. The example will help you. (пример на доске)

Chris says it is a totem pole (транскрипция на доске), it came from the native people of Canada and now we’ll learn some more facts! Chris has some cards for you. You are to read them and then to speak about this wonderful objects – totem poles. Speak not only about the facts but also express your emotions and ideas. The conversational phrases will help you!

So, Chris is on Canadian TV and this is Daphne. And now Chris wants to make an interview with her and to ask her about the country. Besides Daphne is a Haida, she is an Indian! Before listening to the interview I’ll give you the cards. Chris wants to see if you are attentive or not. Guess what is true about Daphne and what is not!(раздаточный материал – карточки)

Let’s check how well you understood the dialogue, read and express your opinion.

Now it is time for us to have a role play! Let’s see if you are ready to visit Chris’s show. Divide in pairs. On every card you will see the words which will help you. Those who play Chris are to ask Daphne about one o the facts about Canada and native Canadian people! Begin your work, you have 2 minutes!

So, we’ve learnt a great deal of information about Canada, hope you remember much. Let’s make up the cluster to summarize the material

Make up the categories and choose the right words for them and we’ll discuss some points.
III. Заключительная часть.

So, our lesson comes to an end, at home you will have the following task. As today we got

e-mail from Chris, it will help you. At home you are to write an e-mail to your friend, imagine that you are planning to go to Canada, tell what you want to see and where you want to go

Today our work was really great. We learned much about the wonderful country of Canada, about its traditions, history, geography and people. We read the texts, practiced dialogues, and had a lot of exercises.
